Something sad and lonely about a ruggedly handsome hunk sitting by himself in a romantic setting with only a cold pilsener and a gerbera for company, Richard.

This is a beautiful image.
Richard Trim: It takes all sorts Ray ... and actually I guess he's the sort of guy who likes some time on his own ... I certainly can cope with it .

and thanks

Lovely photograph Richard, one of your best.
Richard Trim: Ijust wish I could pull them out of the hat more often
Many thanks Mike
Lovely mono! The light coming in from the window is perfect. (:o)
Richard Trim: many thanks Ros
This reminds me of a friend from London who told me that he was sat in a pub having a pint and reading a book. A group of rugby players came him, loud and disruptive, decided he was a puffta for reading and poured his beer over him.
Richard Trim: It ssums up my feelings about groups of sporting types ... a few beers and unthinking group mentality takes over
Sorry forgot to add what a great study this photograph is Richard I did
Richard Trim: Thanks Chad

Oh, this is an elegant, cosy corner where I liked sitting down for a coffee or a tea or a lunch, too! - the atmosphere you captured very delicately considering the lights, reflections...- I think the young man/student doesn't feel alone, he seems to be completely absorbed with his papers, oblivious to all things around him, incl. the photographer! I very like this photograph!
Richard Trim: Sometimes it's good to have time on one's own in public places. But to achieve that I think maturity, bravery and self-belief are often required. Many people don't appear to handle time on their own very well.

I didn't totally understand the informations written on the mirror! I assume a band playing...
Richard Trim: I think it's a pub that uses music to draw people in in the evenings .

Richard Trim: There must be lots of Irish pubs where there would be great atmosphere to take photographs ... you must try it Marion...

I bet you the proprietor of the venue would be thrilled to have this in print on the wall!!!!
Richard Trim: I'm going to London again in October ... I'll try and call in

Yes, I agree with all the enthusiastic comments- such a banal title "having a beer"- but such an extraordinary and subtly lightened photo! Really a great one!
Richard Trim: We mustn't judge a book by it's cover .... although publishers spend huge amounts of time and effort on dust cover designsfor books

You do take many wonderful images Richard. I would never have te -----s to point my camera in his direction. Well done.
Richard Trim: But you have your own strengths Alan ... so don't forget that.

Many thanks
The light and contrast makes this a top shot.
Richard Trim: Thanks Michael
What a superb picture. So much to look at and so much to wonder about, such as why they've got a flower in what looks like a specimen bottle
Richard Trim: That is probably a rare Victorian vase bought from a street market stall Ellie

thanks richard
This is sheer poetry, Richard, pure and simple.

Your light & the mono here work so beautifully in this elegant place !
Richard Trim: This East end of London pub still held on to lots of its late Victorian/Edwardian qualities. The windows were lovely ... many thanks K'
