Trim pondered nervously when he heard the handle turning in the lock of the shed door for the last time this summer.

It had been some weeks since he had experienced the humdrum and somewhat frenetic routines of everyday urban life. In many ways the thought of returning to them were making his heartbeat. 

Whilst away he'd read a great pile of books, he had filled several cheap notebooks with one or two deep, challenging, intellectual, and distilled thoughts amongst the reams and reams of spontaneous waffle that he tended to scrawl whilst away on these holiday occasions.  

He'd created and cooked plenty of tasty meals using seasonally grown and locally acquired foods. He'd caught up with viewing a pile of films that he'd accumulated and/or recorded over the last two seasons. Numerous glasses of local ale had been supped. He had also been interminably grateful that his geriatric TV had become even more temperamental, thus saving him from no more than minimal viewing of Olympic excesses.

Lucy, the family dog, had slobbed happily. She had chased rabbits recklessly, enthusiastically and quite hopelessly on the heaths.  Her regular and numerous beach walks gave her ample opportunities to contentedly attack breaking summer waves with gusto. In spite of her mature years she had unwisely sniffed, and then licked, a washed up jelly fish … resulting in a frenzied hour where her jaws and tongue had gyrated gymnastically and she'd salivated even more profusely than an over-filled pint of lively frothing Adnams bitter.

Trim too, had slobbed, had explored far and wide, had walked and talked, wined and dined, had absorbed visits and from his dad and a selection of other family and friends who had been prepared to slot into the tight living space of the holiday residence.

Yes, he was now pondering, a tad nervously, on the re-entry into urban living after the few weeks away during which time he had even managed to take a few snaps.
