Yippee Richard: one of the best pictures I've ever seen on Shutterchance - you've really captured the essence opf the place for me
Richard Trim: I find cloisters in Cathedrals the pinicle for me of any visit. Its the openess, the space, often the solitude, and having timme to reflect in a way that suits the individual without any heavy influences. I love the characteristic arched walkways and the simplicity of window carving and building styles. For me it is one that I'm certainly pleased to have been in the place at the right time for (the position of the sunlight). Many thanks Chris. richard
Lots of great stuff in this shot: the details in the arches, the shadows and streaks of light, and person at the very end of the hall, the slightly off center angle you shot it from, and the mottled bricks.
Richard Trim: In fact it was a rushed shot .. We had turned a corner and I instinctively knew that the disappearing figure was essential. Many thanks Jewlya. richard
Great long perspective and interesting light!
Richard Trim: The light was a total dream Martin. richard
Absolutely a Likey for me, Richard. I love it.
Richard Trim: Hey Ginnie ...I liked it as well. Ha! richard
Wow.. a lot to look at here and it has alot of my favorite things for a monotone photo.. lines, light/shadows, detail, contrast.. and did I mention lines?
Richard Trim: Ha Mary B'! Yes you did mention lines ... smiles richard
Strong picture especially with the lone figure down this broad passageway.
Richard Trim: I was rushing my shot to capoture the diappearing figure. Thanks Louis. richard
This is great photography. It has everything. A sense of atmosphere, crisp detail, good texture, and fabulous light (especially those diagonal shafts of light hitting the floor). Truly wonderful. (:o)
Richard Trim: Many thanks Roz. I've alway wanted to get images that include shafts of light. The famous image of Grand Central Station NY ( which you might know of ) has been an inspiration for me. richard

Great treatment here Richard. Love the composition - the open door and figure at the end draws your eye right in.
Ingrid
Richard Trim: I guessed you bloggers would like the disappearing figure ...it was a hell of a rush to get the shot. Cheers Ingrid. richard

You were right - this is exactly my cuppa tea! Wonderful , the shadows, the light the detail, the perspective, the figure - did I say I like it? ;o)

Almost speechless. This is a fantastic shot - the architecture, the lighting, the DOF -- everything. Wonderful photo!
Richard Trim: In spite of you being speechless martie, your words are most appreciated. richard
I love these sort of shots Richard, and this is a good one. Loads of detail in the shadow areas, and the sunbeams add that little bit eaxtra. Good job there was somebody in the doorway to complete the composition.
Richard Trim: Brian, I think the sunbeams actually add a lot more than just a little bit extra. Cheers richard
Stunning brickwork Richard and nicely captured.

The arches, sunlight streaming through and the color tone combine to make this a great picture.
