Not long ago I was driving up from East Suffolk into Norfolk to see my dad who lives in Norwich.
I was using the A146, a very sober two-lane road, that doesn't exactly encourage overtaking and, going with the flow (so as to speak), I remembered the words of Eddie Cantor "Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast, you also miss the sense of where you are going and why."
I was encouraged by these words and, by easing off the gas, I was able to increase, not only my personal thinking, but also my observational skills (that had been fine honed over the last two years or so with my picking up this photography lark).
I spied some derelict farm buildings on my outward journey and cursed the lack of good light and also the lack of time. My geographical background allowed the location of it to be stapled in my mind and conveniently near the top of the list of things to remember.
Returning to the self-same spot in mid-afternoon I found that the sun had exerted itself most unselfishly and, although somewhat over-bright, had positioned itself to create some satisfactory light and shadow in the interior of the buildings.
This series is cobbled together from some of the photographs I took .
